 Mobilisation - Investissements Hors Jeu - Vœux au Président de la République

 « Pour appuyer notre Campagne "Investissements Hors-Jeu" et sensibiliser nos concitoyens, nous avons fait le choix d'adresser une carte de vœux électronique au Président de la République.
 

Plus nous serons nombreux à écrire à François Hollande, à faire du bruit pour exiger l'encadrement des investissements privés et que la France mette en place des règles basées sur les droits humains

Sisters Protest Nuclear Weapons

          You may remember Grand Rapids Dominicans Ardeth Platte, Carol Gilbert, and Jackie Hudson --three sisters who protested peacefully, non-violently, against nuclear weapons by entering and pouring blood on the warheads stored in the Y12 Nuclear Weapons Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The sisters served prison time for this action, and I know that many of us wrote to them in support.

          I especially remember a weekend retreat I shared with Ardeth and Carol and many other Dominicans.  It began with the Penitential Rite of the Mass on Friday evening, continued with the Liturgy of the Word on Saturday, and concluded with the Liturgy of the Eucharist on Sunday.  In between those times of prayer were many extended periods of common contemplation and a session about non-violent protest led by Ardeth and Carol.  They were extraordinary women and it was an extraordinary experience.

           Sister Megan Rice of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus and two male colleagues, a carpenter and a veteran, from Transform Now Plowshares recently penetrated into the Oak Ridge complex and performed the same ritual protest as the three Dominicans.  Megan and her companions were arrested and tried.  Sr. Megan was convicted and will be sentenced on January 28.  Please keep her and her two companions in your prayers.  Here are links to learn more:
